Seventeen Space Marine units are leaving the codex in October, and the first half of this episode is Bart and James working out what that actually means for a collection. The Legends list, the proxy rules, and which of these kits we have and have not seen come through the studio over the last two years, which turns out to be the more interesting question.
After that: whether Warhammer 40,000 could ever do a WoW Classic, why the Ork codex is a softback, where you are supposed to read 40k lore, the price rise landing on September 21, the Total War: Warhammer 40,000 gameplay from Gamescom and what Bart does not like about it, StarCraft wave 2 pre-orders, the XCOM starter set backlash, and why a strong IP with weak rules still flops.

Bart and James on the two games that took over the studio this month. Malediction has recruited four players inside our workshop and shows no sign of stopping, and StarCraft wave 2 was revealed on Archon Studio's livestream with models we painted ourselves.
Along the way: whether Archon can hold the momentum, what Amazon is doing with 40k, why 11th Edition felt smaller than it should have, and CMON walking away from an NFT deal.

James and Bart are sweating through a massive heatwave to bring you a brand-new episode packed with huge Warhammer news and board game reviews!

We kick things off with the massive Warhammer Big Summer Preview, sharing our thoughts on the official pre-painted 40k terrain, the 20-mission Exodites co-op campaign, the new Old World starter, and the polarizing Necromunda rules wipe.
We also jump straight into our recent tabletop obsessions. We break down our first impressions of the highly tactical Stalker Board Game from Awaken Realms, and explain exactly why we paused all our personal painting projects to play Malediction, a fast-paced skirmish and card game hybrid.
Finally, we take some time to honor the late, great John Blanche, discussing his massive influence on the grimdark aesthetic and the incredible INQ28 movement.
Grab a cold drink, turn the fan all the way up, and let's get into it!

We also dive heavy into the recent Warhammer Skulls festival, sharing our hopes for Dawn of War 4, the constant support for Space Marine 2, and the reality of Total War DLC fatigue.
Finally, we crack open the studio doors to talk about the massive StarCraft Board Game shipping wave, our recent obsession with Malediction and Moonstone, and what we have been reading from the Black Library.
